New DXCC's

Hi Guys

Its been months since I last posted a blog. Since I have been licensed I have made 85 DXCC's with 27 confirmed so far and my newest DXCC's are Gabon TR8CA and Togo 5V7DX.

  

Both on 12m and recently worked New Zealand ZL4IR which is my furthest contact at 19,000 Km. I'm also working towards my WAS award having 27 states confirmed out of 50 so far and my DXCC award. So far I'm doing good.

Helping Dash

Recently I was contacted by Jeff and asked if I would make a quick video telling young scouts the fun things about radio and my recent achievement. I was nervous doing the film but Jeff was pleased with the result and to my surprise he offered to make me an animated QSL Card image, I'm really looking forward to this as I love Jeff's cartoons.

Hi Guys Thanks for looking me up! My name is Jordan and I've recently become Ireland's youngest amateur , I'm 14 years old and passed my exam on the 23rd of October 2013 after gaining an interest in the hobby through YOTA (Youngsters On The air) 2013 in Estonia 2013.

I'm also a member of the North Cork Radio Group. The group is very active and enables me to gain operating skills during some pile ups. ive had the great pleasure of operating EI1NC, EI0IMD, EI75GP, lots of CASHOTA and just recently I was given the chance to operate for our national society the IRTS using the very special and sought after call EI13CLAN. I Passed!!

Hi Guys

On 23rd October I received the results!  I came home from school and Dad told me there was an envelope there for me.The previous day Dad told me that if my result came in an A4 envelope it could be a pass and if it came in a small envelope it could be a fail. When I just got in the door from school I was handed a small envelope, I was sure I failed but to my surprise I passed!. I was speechless and so happy my hard work paid off. On the 31st I got a letter from Com Reg telling me my callsign is EI4HLB.  Im delighted :)

D-Day

Hi Guys

What a day! I dont know what to say, its been a roller-coaster of ups and downs.

I was never so nervous as I was this morning, I felt sick. I spent the whole train journey to Com Reg trying to cram in some last minute study and it flew by so fast.

I got to Com Reg in plenty of time but this didnt help much as it just made me more nervous, the butterflys were flying around.  I met Derek O'Reilly and then took my place in the room, that was it, I had nowhere to run to.

My mind went blank, as the papers were handed out and I looked at the questions.  I had to look at them a few times before my brain kicked into gear.  The time went by so quickly and before I knew it, I had done the best I can and could do no more.

I felt confident about some answers but wasnt sure on quite a few so this made me anxious.  Now I have to wait for the results! Oh God!

Rally Driving!

Hi Guys

My dog died yesterday so I put the study on hold.  I am still struggling with some of this knowledge but after the NCRG rally today, I feel like I can do it.  I also met champion boxer, Spike O'Sullivan (pictured below).

I spoke to a lot of our local hams who attended and they gave great words of encouragement which made me feel really good, and I want to pass this test now.  I feel more confident now that if I work hard at it, I can pass!

Hi guys,

So Ive decided to go ahead and study for the radio exam, o god what have I done!

Theres all these resistors and capacitors, fractions and subtractions, with funny little pictures of tracks and lines, I dont know what half of this is.  I really wanna pack this in, Xbox is so much easier.
